Our Story

Let's be honest, our dogs are more than pets, they are family.  As family, we want the best for them.  Our choices impact our dogs and the one choice we make every day is what we feed them.  Born out of the love for our dogs, we created Doggone-Fresh Dog Food. 

We have an aging German Shorthaired Pointer and my brother and sister-in-law have two boxers.   Both breeds are high energy.   However, our dogs grew overweight, lethargic, and started showing signs of health problems.  After an acute health scare, we started looking at every aspect of their lives.   We realized that the food we were providing them had a huge impact.  Mass produced dry dog foods have questionable ingredients and are cooked at high temperatures causing poor nutritional value. 

We first tried other natural foods, but found the price and the ingredients were not up to our expectations. 

So we had the crazy idea to create our own food.  The goals were to create a protein rich, all-natural food.   We had hesitation, because our dogs were finicky eaters.  However, once we presented this new fresh food to our dogs, they LOVED it!   Where they once grazed at their dog bowls, now they couldn't wait for mealtime.  In fact, now they were anticipating mealtime.  They would wake us in the morning with their "Feed Me" face.  They prance around their bowls and drool while we put the food in the bowl.  

We saw the changed in their mealtime behavior.  However, more importantly, we observed changed in the overall activity and health.

We started sharing the food with friends and family.  Then realized, other people had the same concerns as we did.  An idea was born...Let's make our own food for other dogs!
